I invited Anya Hankin, a gifted facilitator, leadership mentor, and idea doula, to dive into this topic with me. She has over 20 years experience in this arena and I’ve personally witnessed the potent containers that she creates for transformation.
It was through my relationship with Anya that I realized there are tools that we can cultivate to create spaces that are safe, brave and allow for all the feelings, emotions and breakthroughs to unfold. As someone who is extremely sensitive — like, I literally feel everyone in the room — it was so enlightening to learn tools that can support me to feel rooted and secure in the process of facilitation.
It’s my hope that this conversation will cover some foundational tools that you can bring into your own work.
(Note, we did record this episode before the pandemic unfolded, so we are speaking to in-person experiences. I can assure you that all of these tools work for virtual immersions, as well.)

Anya Hankin is a facilitator, leadership mentor, and idea doula. She guides the Catalyst Leadership Immersion — a 10-month container that supports emerging and evolving leaders to hone their facilitation skills, cultivate their unique leadership style, and create their signature offering. She also runs Holding Space, a foundational online course for facilitators, leaders, and guides.
