5 tips to shift your energy △ and increase your income & flow
Hi Dear Ones,
As we all know, running a business is a roller coaster. Peaks of pure elation and creative expression, and low points when basically you feel like crawling in a hole. As someone who started her first business in her early 20's, I've been there. I've hit the highest peaks and succumbed to the darkest caves. I’ve been humbled and brought to my knees, sobbing in tears, and celebrated months beyond what I could have ever imagined.
On an energetic level, these fluctuations of expansion (joy, creativity, pleasure) and contraction (frustration, bitterness, or what I call “fuck it” energy) can impact our ability to attract consistent, flowing income. On a tangible level, these two states of being would either inspire us to take action, engage with our community, launch new offers—or completely shut down. Am I right?
So, let's explore this together. The hope is that you'll discover a new tool to better understand how to shift your energy, so that those fluctuations will become a gentle ebb and flow.
On that note, this post isn't about bypassing or suppressing your emotions and feelings when you’re low. (I'm not a proponent of toxic positivity or spiritual bypassing.) Give yourself full permission to be with your feelings before you shift out of them. Bring acknowledgement, compassion, and love to yourself. Ask your feelings questions, do they have something to share with you? Then, let it all out—shake, dance, scream, cry—before you move on to the suggestions below.
5 Tips to Shift Your Energy (to Increase Income & Flow)
1. Shift your perspective.
Get out of your head and shake up your energy. Go for a walk. Visit a favorite coffee shop. Cancel your plans and take a spontaneous excursion. Slow down and do something pleasurable. Better yet, go connect with mama earth. There’s nothing like nature to remind us of the abundance and flow that naturally occurs surrounding us. The rhythm of the seasons, the stability of the trees, the sounds of life thriving around us.
2. Connect with other humans.
Create a circle of other business owners and meet regularly. It helps to remind us that we're not alone on this path. If you don’t have a group, this could even be one other person you hop on a call with and get the creative energy flowing. It's also a space for witnessing, reflection, and celebration.
3. Celebrate.
Celebrate your tiny wins. What's been going well? What's working? What are all the things you're grateful for in your work? The idea that you’re “not doing enough” can slowly corrode your happiness. Big visions are amazing, but if you're always measuring yourself against it, you’ll feel like you’re never doing enough.
4. Serve your community.
Connect back with those you're serving, rather than making it about you. I hope that wasn't rude, but sometimes we can get in our own way. Reflect on the impact you've made, those you've touched. How can you show up for them? Is there a way to turn this situation into wisdom that can be shared? We all have different lessons we’re here to learn and our businesses can be a pathway to grow and evolve.
5. Ask, what IS working??
In those low moments when you feel like nothing is working, try to welcome in curiosity. Can you shift from attachment to curiosity? Is there an area of your business that IS flowing? Is there a pivot needed in that direction?
I hope this message supports those navigating the highs and lows of entrepreneurship. As always, take what resonates and leave the rest.
