Money Archetypes
Through the Lens of Human Design
Human Design combines the principles of many different modalities into one: astrology, the Hindu chakras, the Chinese iChing, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, and quantum physics. It’s a system that supports you to realign with your authenticity and leverage your natural energetics.
These archetypes are meant to serve as inspiration and offer a deeper look at the stories or beliefs that you may hold surrounding money, or energetic currency.
Begin with your own Human Design archetype — you can find out your Human Design type here — and then, read through the others to see if any resonate. Since we pick up our money stories, beliefs, and conditioning from our parents, you may resonate with their archetype as well.
As always, take what resonates and bless the rest.
Generators — The Givers
Giver archetypes are naturally drawn to being of service to their community. They may find their purpose through their work and/or uplifting those around them. Often, their joy is directly related to their impact.
Gifts. Generosity, giving value, radiating love, magnetism, and being of service to the greater good.
Challenges. Losing sight of their own financial needs, lack of boundaries, burn-out, financial hardship, rescuing, or martyrdom.
To bring into balance. A clear understanding of their own financial needs and energetic capacity (and firm boundaries around these). Many Givers love to offer options like sliding-scale or scholarships, which is an amazing route, as long as they’re always taking care of themselves first. This will allow them to create sustainability to keep showing up.
Manifesting Generators — The Dreamers
Dreamer archetypes feel expansive when they’re learning something new, or diving into their latest inspiration. They may jump from one creative pursuit to another collecting wisdom along the way. Dreamers love the freedom and inspiration within the visionary space.
Gifts. Visioning, creative expression, optimism, being expansive, inspiring others.
Challenges. Losing sight of the practicalities, lack of financial planning, excessive creating, or not managing energy.
To bring into balance. Though Dreamers may feel resistant to create financial systems and support structures — these will create a foundation for their visions to blossom. Dreamers do best if they ground their projects in the practical space. This could look like getting clear on financial needs and capacity before saying yes to a new endeavor — or hiring an accountant to balance the books.
Manifestors — The Free Birds
Free Bird archetypes love having the total freedom in their life to do things their own way. They may feel resistant to structures that lock them down, or that feel too traditional or conventional. They have an inner rebel inside.
Gifts. Out-of-the-box thinking, innovating, leading others, embracing their authenticity or edginess, creating momentum.
Challenges. Feeling overwhelmed or lost, people-pleasing, being unrealistic, or lack of stability or structure.
To bring into balance. Free Birds do best if they create a financial structure or system that aligns with their own inner truth. This foundation will allow them to embrace their authenticity and rebellious nature. Since freedom is the main value, they may want to explore ways to create financial freedom. For example, a savings account that’s labeled “freedom” that’s solely for their creative pursuits and divine inspiration.
Projectors — The Designers
Designer archetypes have a unique perspective that’s been cultivated from their birds-eye view of the world. This makes them fabulous designers — whether it’s the design of their unique services, or financial systems to support their income. They have the capacity to see a direct line between the big vision and the little details.
Gifts. Seeing the big picture, celebrating efficiency + streamlining, designing systems, directing the energetic flow, guiding others.
Challenges. Lack of follow-through, limited energy, burn-out, feeling frustrated or overwhelmed, being grandiose.
To bring into balance. Designers do best when they create step-by-step processes to bring their designs into being. This allows them to understand the full energetic output needed, so they can manage their energy along the way. They excel when they have support for the building process. This could look like hiring an administrative assistant — or raising prices to protect their energy output. This lets them embrace their full designer abilities!
Reflectors — The Chameleons
Chameleon archetypes can shift and change depending upon who they’re with, or what information they’re taking in. This allows them to be open-minded and see many different perspectives. They can explore different ideas, approaches, and ways of doing things — allowing them to create a unique pathway that’s all their own.
Gifts. Open-minded, curious, masters of evolution, deeply sensitive, accepting.
Challenges. Losing sight of their own truth, difficulty making decisions, inaction from confusion, compulsive saving or spending.
To bring into balance. Chameleons do best when they take their time with each decision. This could look like: gathering many ideas and processing with trusted advisors before finding their own truth. This is especially true with big decisions — financial investments, pricing structures, or new projects. If they feel external pressure from others, they may leap before they’re ready. Alone time can do wonders for Chameleons to come back to their own colors!
